Where to eat and drink in Berlin Germany- Berlin has been on the rise of having many of the best places to eat and drink. We ate at some great restaurants, breweries, markets and cocktails bars during our time in the city of Berlin. Any thing from sit down meals, street stands, breweries and bars. Here you will find our favorite places to eat in Berlin.
Eat
Transit
After arriving at our hotel, Hotel Circus, we where ready for a bite to eat. Our hotel receptionist suggested if we like Asian food to walk down the street to the Transit. Asian food is one of our favorites so of course we went! It definitely was a great choice, many locals there and two of them sitting next to us were kind enough to offer some recommendations. They also went on to inform us we found one of the best restaurants in Berlin! And it was great!
You first order from a menu where you put check marks next to the dishes you want. The plates are small and come in the order in which they are made. So the meal is always coming off hot and fresh. Order a bunch and share so you can sample a bit of everything!
Markthalle Neun
I had my eye on Markethalle Neun long before our trip! And it worked out perfectly that we were there on a Thursday for their Street Food Thursday event. On Thursdays from 5:00pm to 10:00pm local vendors pack the large market with the food from the streets of Berlin. This was one of my favorite stops in Berlin. We got to sample all kinda of different types of meals, along with purchasing local beverages to carry around while we ate.
K’Ups Gemüsekebap
After getting in late on our last night in Berlin we immediately headed back out because we knew we had to try kebap or durum before we left. K’Ups Gemusekebap was open late and only a short ride away using our Berlin Welcome Card on Berlin’s tram system. We were not they only ones with this idea late at night, this place had a line out the door. And it was worth it!
Dolores Mitte
Dolores Mitte was suggested to me a few times, even though burritos was not exactly what I was thinking about eating while I was in Berlin, but we were glad we went. The setting is a lot like the Chipotle chains as you order your meal at the counter and seat yourself. It does take a little bit longer to make so they will call your number when your order is ready.
This place stayed busy so grab a table and chair when you see it, we were super happy with our burritos. We paired it with a beer and a side of chips and guac. Would go back again!
Dom Curry
Dom Curry was a stop while we were on our tour of Berlin by bike, Berlin on Bike. I knew I wanted to try currywurst while I was in Berlin and here was my chance. The difference with this stop than others was that they have so many different types of curry to choose from. Not only can to get original curry you can also choose from ostrich, buffalo and vegetarian options as well!
Ryong
On our last day in Berlin we knew we had time for just one last meal while in the city. Even though Ryong is known for being a vegetarian Vietnamese restaurant (we are not vegetarians) they had great reviews and was just a short walk from our hotel. Knowing I love most types of asian foods I knew we couldn’t go wrong here, and we didn’t. We got a noodle dish and bento box to share. All dishes were fresh and delicious. I also order a matcha green tea cappuccino. A perfect last meal to fill us up before our flight to Norway.
Drinks
Circus Hotel Bar
We spent a few evenings enjoying drinks at our hotel bar, Circus Hotel. Some locals that we meant at dinner even ended up there, which makes me believe this is more than your typical hotel bar. Here you have a few options on where to sit. The typical tables or bar (which also doubles as a cafe in the mornings), in their open air courtyard, street side seating, and their small roof top bar.
They had great cocktail options, craft beer and small bite plates for the evening crowd. I loved sitting on the street side watching the locals pass by, I love people watching I will admit. Their courtyard was great for when you are craving some green space while in the city. And then at last I also loved their rooftop bar. It is a very small space but I love their honesty program. We dropped some money in for exchange of our drinks. So peaceful and a beautiful view of the cityscape near sunset.
Circus Hostel Brewing Co.
After booking our stay at Circus Hotel we knew we would have to head across the street to check out Circus Hostel Brewing Company. This brewery is located in the basement area of the hostel. This is a pretty small craft brewery, they are still growing in Germany. They only had one or two of their beers on tap. We split a Circus Beer and also got their house special, Panther Milk. Panther Milk is served in either liter or 1/2 liter bottles. It is considered a ‘rum based milk drink’ served with a dash of cinnamon. I am always open to try something new so we did. It was good but a little much for just the two of us. Great to split with a crowd.
Vögelchen Cafe Bar (Bird Cafe)
We arrived a little early to Markthalle Neun so we slipped into this cocktail bar to kill some time, Vogelchen Bird Cafe. It also was a super hot day some some refreshing cocktails seemed like the perfect idea. And it was! We sat and a had a few here as they were so good. The employees were friendly and they had a great menu of different types of cocktails. I loved seeing them come in with ingredients straight from the market next door. The decor is quit interesting!
Hops and Barley
On our way back from the Market Neun we stopped at this brewery, Hops and Barley. It was a great way round out our day around the city. We sipped on the craft beers while sitting outside watching the people pass by.
Mikkeller Berlin
In any city if you see a Mikkeller brewery please stop. They have so many great beers and something for everyone’s drink preference, Berlin’s is located here.
Coffee
The Barn Roastery
We opted to often just get a pastry and coffee before heading out for our day. The Barn Roastery was a cute place with many difference choices in ways you can order your caffeine fix. I went to a cappuccino!
St. Oberholz
St. Oberholz was conceitedly located by our hotel. I great place to sip a coffee, get a bite, or relax before getting your day started.
Where We Stayed:
We stayed at the Circus Hotel and couldn’t of loved our stay there more! I would highly recommend it. Book your stay at Circus Hotel or search for others to stay at while in Berlin here:
